Mechanical Engineer

We are looking for a MECHANICAL ENGINEER for the HVAC Design Build Mechanical Contracting Group in our Pittsburgh office. Recent winner of Contracting Business Design/Build Award for New Construction. The qualified candidate should be well versed in the design and engineering of commercial building HVAC systems and should be familiar with evaluating facilities and possess the ability to identify building operational issues.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Experience with the design and engineering of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems for the commercial and industrial markets including laboratory spaces, healthcare, educational and general office building markets.
  • Identifying and documenting building performance criteria.
  • Develop test procedures, schematic diagrams, and specifications.
  • Green building design assistance.
  • Select equipment and components.
  • Perform engineering calculations.
  • Read and understand applicable codes, industry guidelines and other regulatory issues.
  • Understanding of mechanical design calculations and construction processes.
  • Knowledge and experience evaluating mechanical systems such as HVAC, motors, distribution systems, central plants and building automation/control systems.
  • Knowledge of HVAC equipment such as chillers, air handlers and chilled/heating water distribution networks.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

 

SKILLS:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable communicating directly with clients.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-leader and work independently without constant direction.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software products, (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), AutoCAD.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering.
  • Knowledgeable in HVAC, steam, boiler, and fluid mechanics.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional Engineer registration.
  • Experience on green building projects.
  • Knowledge of MEP related LEED credits.
